The Automation Engineer assists all plant operations related to automation investments by controlling processes to levels that meet expectations related to quality, cost, control, consistency and customer specifications. This role is required to troubleshoot variability for reduction or elimination.Requirements:Program automation equipment to produce machined parts to customer specificationsImprove automation programs on legacy partsCreate and implement new processes and programs on new productInteract with development and product management teams for quick resolution when issues ariseSet up projects, collect and input data, perform statistical analysis as the measure for significanceInterface with engineering, quality and manufacturing to determine root cause for process and part issuesIdentify opportunities for process improvements resulting in cost reduction, quality improvement, and increased efficiencyPerform day-to-day monitoring of department specific process outputsComplete projects in a timely manner with accuracy using sound scientific methodology, with attention to detail and good judgementEffectively communicate and work with manufacturing, quality, NPI, and engineeringProvide input and analysis for procedural changes to include work instructions and manualsOther related duties as assignedKnowledge, skills, and abilitiesDemonstrated knowledge of Fanuc controls platform and programming is required.Experience in Robotics centric application engineering, hands-on experience in Controls/PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers)/ HMI (Human Machine Interface)/ PC (Process Center)/ Robot programming.Sound knowledge of engineering and project management techniques, processes, and tools with a strong focus on safety and dedication to following workplace safety guidelines.Experience with computer modeling program Solid-Works preferredDemonstrated proficiency with MS Office applicationsAbility to read and interpret technical documents and blueprintsAbility to communicate effectively both written and oral at all levelsAbility to define, plan, and complete projects with accuracy and on timeStrong understanding of GD&TStrong understanding of Six Sigma methodology is preferredAbility and willingness to work with individuals with diverse expertise and backgroundsAbility to have flexible schedule when developing and troubleshooting projectsKnowledge of investment casting is preferredCompensationCompensation for this role is based on experience and demonstrated abilityThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
